Project Management, Collaboration, Technology
Managing Projects can be daunting as they encompass juggling many tasks within tight deadlines. Despite the constraints, this was among the most engaging and rewarding projects I´ve ever worked in. In this project I experienced first hand what multi-tasking and asynchronous online collaboration was truly about. This project demonstrates my ability to work remotely with teammates in different time zones, lead the development of a project plan, assign roles and responsibilities, collaborate with teammates to prepare budgets and work breakdown structure, define dependency relationships for each task and prepare a Gantt chart using MS Project. |
| Context |
This project was one of six major projects completed during the Spring of 2006 for EME6631, Managing Instructional Development with
Dr. Bonnie Armstrong.

| Conditions |
-
The goal for this project was to create a Project Work Plan based on a hypothetical 20-page proposal.
- The proposal given to us contained a cover letter, executive summary, brief overview of the company, the description of deliverables, and preliminary estimates of the work to be performed.
- Our team had to create a Work Plan based on the information contained in the proposal as if we had initially submitted such proposal and had been hired to perform the work.
- In order to prepare the work plan, the team had to interview the hypothetical client, in this case the instructor, by posing questions pertaining to the proposal, budget, target audience, employee performance gaps, existing training practices and materials, social and technological constraints, and work flow analysis.
- The guidelines were to include an overview of the project´s purpose and objectives, a detailed work breakdown structure (WBS), an overall estimated budget and a Gantt chart demonstrating a portion of the dependency relationships contained in the WBS.
